How We Increased Traffic and Reduced Ads Costs for a Client – A Case Study in SEO Success

When a construction company owner reached out to us, his website was receiving about 20 unique visitors per day. Google Ads was eating up $3000 per month, bringing only 10–15 leads. The cost per lead was over $150–$300. The client was ready to "double the budget" when we met.

We stopped him. Because we see this all the time: businesses are spending huge amounts on ads instead of investing once to set up SEO correctly and receive traffic for years, for free.

The first thing we do on any project is to conduct a complete technical audit based on over 100 ranking factors. These are the parameters that search engines use when delivering search results.

Here’s what we found on the client’s website:

  • Duplicated title and description meta tags on 80% of pages

  • Page load speed was 8.2 seconds on mobile (norm < 3s)

  • Missing Schema.org markup — search engines couldn't understand the website structure

  • Semantic core — only 38 queries (needed 100+)

  • Content was written "for themselves", without considering LSI semantics

  • No low-frequency pages — these are the ones that generate conversions

How the work was structured: 3 Phases

01. Month 1 — Foundation

Technical audit and critical error fixing

We conducted a full audit based on 500 ranking factors. We set up robots.txt, sitemap.xml, Schema.org, and HTTPS. Connected Google Search Console and Analytics. Reduced page load speed from 8.2 to 2.8 seconds.

02. Months 2-3 — Semantics

Semantic core collection and content strategy

We identified 600+ target queries, optimized all meta tags, fixed internal linking, and created 18 new landing pages targeting low-frequency queries.

03. Months 4-5 — Content

Expert content based on LSI semantics

We created 27 expert articles and 17 sales pages. 40 queries appeared in Google’s Top 5. The client completely stopped Google Ads campaigns.

How much did it cost the client?

The client chose the most basic plan, which allowed achieving the minimum results with reasonable investment. Here's how the cost structure for our project looked:

  1. Website audit (one-time) — $1500

    • We began with a full technical audit covering 500 ranking factors. The audit included analyzing meta tags, site structure, page load speed, and identifying issues with the mobile version and content.

  2. SEO internal optimization (one-time) — $1500

    • In this part of the work, we optimized all internal factors: corrected meta tags, improved site structure, created new landing pages, and implemented proper internal linking.

  3. SEO external optimization (monthly work) — $2500 per month (5 months)

    • For external optimization, we focused on link building: creating quality backlinks to the site, increasing its authority and visibility in search results.

    • We worked with platforms that could attract target users, and also ensured content creation to improve positions for key queries.

    • This work was carried out over 5 months, and each publication or link placement was analyzed for maximum efficiency.
